The system uses two advanced sensors:
Miniature Rubidium Optical Pump Magnetometer (OPM) – Measures the Earth’s total magnetic field with extreme sensitivity (20 pT/Hz).
3-Axis Fluxgate Magnetometer – Detects magnetic field direction (X, Y, Z axes) with minimal noise (<20 pT/√Hz).
These sensors are mounted on a carbon fiber pole, keeping them 1.5 meters away from the drone’s electronics to avoid interference.
The Data Acquisition Module (DAQ) processes readings in real time, correcting for drone-induced magnetic noise, and sends data wirelessly (10Hz update rate) to a ground station.
